Frequently Asked Questions

Making the decision to get your CPR certification is a powerful first step in becoming a lifesaver. To help you choose the right course, we’ve answered some of the most common questions below.

What is the difference between BLS and Heartsaver CPR?

BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers is a professional-level certification designed for those in the medical field, like nurses, doctors, and EMTs. It covers advanced techniques such as two-rescuer CPR and team-based resuscitation. Heartsaver® First Aid CPR AED is designed for the general public, including workplace responders, teachers, and coaches. It teaches the core skills of CPR, AED use, and first aid for common emergencies.

How long does a CPR certification last?

All American Heart Association CPR and BLS certifications are valid for two years. To maintain your certification, you will need to complete a renewal course before your card expires.

How long does a CPR class take?

The length of the class varies depending on the course. A BLS for Healthcare Providers class typically takes around 4-5 hours, while a Heartsaver CPR AED course is usually 3-4 hours. Our private CPR Party is a shorter, informal session focused on skill-building.

Is it hard to get CPR certified?

Our CPR classes are designed to be accessible to everyone, regardless of prior experience. Our certified AHA instructors use a hands-on approach with practice-while-watching videos and manikin skill sessions to ensure you feel comfortable and confident. The goal is to build your skills, not to create a stressful test environment.
